Welcome To Windsor Quilters Guild

 Windsor Quilters Guild Members meet the first Tuesday between the months of September to June at The Fogolar Furlan Club, 1800 North Service Road (E. C. Row), Windsor, Ontario from 9:30 a.m. (Doors open at 9:00 a.m.)  Business meeting begins at 12:30 p.m. Evening meetings 7 p.m. ( Doors open at 5:00 p.m.) . Meetings are held the 1 st Tuesday of each month(except July and August or as noted).

• The Windsor Quilters' Guild grew from an 'Interest Program' offered by Budimir Library in South Windsor .  Maureen Laporte who taught quilting, also worked at the Library and was asked to do a presentation on quilting, which was open to the public at no cost. 
• The strong interest of dedicated and wanna-be quilters from this Library Interest Group, decided to form a guild and meet on a regular basis at Budimir Library with Maureen Laporte at the helm. The original Constitution and By-laws passed on the 3rd day of April 1978.
• The first quilt show, 1979, was held at Oakwood Community Centre, where Jean O'Keefe won the first Quilt Show Raffle Quilt. She became a member and learned to quilt.
• As the guild grew:

    • The first formal Constitution and By-laws for WQG – April 3rd, 1978.
    • Dorothy McMurdie and Allyson Turner revised the current constitution and by-laws.
    • Guild Library initiated by Dorothy McMurdie (members donated new or  gently used books and patterns);
    • Original quilt racks subsidized by gov't grants acquired by Mary Walker and Betty Ives;
    • Door prize started with donation of 2 books by Betty Ives;
    • Laprobe donations started with suggestion and crochet sample from Jean Smith
    • 1978 - 25 members thirty years ago.
